For outdoor recreation there is the Poudre River Trail and Frank State Wildlife Area close by and an array of Windsor parks that are within easy walking or driving distance. A few minutes west of interstate 25 and CO-392 is the eight hundred and ten acre Fossil Creek Reservoir Natural Area, located on the south side of Fossil Lake, was deemed an “Important Bird Area” by the National Audubon Society in two thousand and one and is home to one hundred and sixty three different bird species including the bald eagle, great blue heron, and great horned owl. Schools are Tozar Elementary School, Windsor Middle School and Windsor High School.
